The Hops Route is part of our company’s Healthy Company programme, which proposes different activities every year that contribute to the physical, mental and social well-being of our employees.
It has been proven that happy and healthy people, i.e. people that “feel well”, are more productive and innovative, carry out their tasks better, and have an increased sense of belonging in the company.
At Hijos de Rivera, we do not simply limit ourselves to complying with the legal guidelines regarding health and safety, but we go further and invest in initiatives that have our employees’ well-being at heart.
Over 75 of our company’s employees, along with their families, took part in the Ruta del Lúpulo Gallego (Galician Hops Route) on Sunday, following trekking routes in the area of Abegondo. A fun day, during which our employees could follow one of the two chosen routes of differing difficulty, to discover the plantations where the part of the hops we use to make our beers are grown.
This leisure activity with a sporting element is part of the Healthy Company programme through which our company has been implementing a wide range of proposals focusing on the physical, mental and social well-being of employees over a number of years. Under the motto “Tu Salud es la Estrella” (“Your health is the star”) we have designed a comprehensive Health Plan based on encouraging physical activities and sport, raising awareness of healthy habits and how to avoid bad habits, and improving psychosocial factors in the work environment.
Bicycle and trekking routes, Pilates and mindfulness workshops, healthy cooking classes, and stress control and time management training are just some of the proposals that our employees have taken part in, as part of this programme, in the last year
With all this, we are working hard to go further than the implementation, that took place in 2008, of the OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety certification, and working towards a global model of a healthy company that aims to achieve the general well-being of its employees.
