The VI 1906 Season presents Jorge Pardo on tour in Spain

Experiences

JORGE PARDO JESUS PARDO

The concert calendar organised by the premium beer 1906 Reserva Especial continues with the performance of the saxophonist and flute player, Jorge Pardo, who will perform in the sixth edition of the 1906 Jazz Season this week in four Spanish cities offering the audience the 1906 “small great moments”. The musician form Madrid will be accompanied by Josemi Carmona (guitar), Pablo Martín Caminero (double bass), and José Ruiz Motos “Bandolero” (percussion).

The Dado Dadá Jazz Club in Santiago will be the stage chosen for Jorge Pardo’s first performance within the 1906 Jazz Season.  The concert will take place this Wednesday, 23rd May, at 11.30pm. The following day, the jazz fusion musician will be in the Café Latino in Ourense offering the second concert organised by 1906 Reserva Especial. His third apperance will be in Barcelona, ending his May concert tour within the music programme organised by 1906 Reserva Especial, before playing at Jazzazza (Murcia) on Saturday 25th.

In this VI edition, the 1906 Jazz Season offers over 50 concerts in a 4 month period, in which 26 jazz artists will fill the most emblematic jazz venues in the country, such as Teatro Lara in Madrid and the Teatro Principal in Santiago de Compostela.  Artists such as the master of the double bass Ron Carter, Arthur Kell, the Valencian Albert Sanz or the Mexican pianist Antonio Sánchez have already taken part in the Season this year.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Perhaps it’s stating the obvious, Jorge Pardo needs no introduction, but his latest release does. “Huellas” (Cabra Road, 2012) is undoubtedly this jazz/flamenco fusion giant’s most ambitious project.  The eighteen tracks on it are an incredible mosaic of all the ideas that swirl around  the mind of this artist from Madrid.  It would be impossible to gather on the stage the over sixty musicians that collaborate on the recording, but Jorge has known how to masterfully condense its wonderful essence in a reduced and clearly flamenco composition. Come on over to listen to the master and you will see why he has played with the legends of the genre (Paco de Lucia, Camarón…) and also with other musicians from very different scenes, but who were seduced by the duende (Wagner Tiso, Vince Mendoza, Gil Goldstein…). His is the best flamenco breath of all times, the breath of a tireless poet with his gaze always towards the South. Join us in celebrating his recent award from the Académie du Jazz Française for the Best European Musician of 2012.
