Internationally renowned artists will perform in June at the O Son do Camiño festival, the first date in the run up to the Xacobeo 2021.
The event will take place in the recently renewed Parque Monte do Gozo from 28-30 June, bringing to Galicia a line up headed by such great artists and bands like The Killers, Lenny Kravitz, Jamiroquai, Martin Garrix, Two Door Cinema Club, Franz Ferdinand and Mando Diao.
The three-day pass will be available as of March 1 on the official festival website and Ticketea, with a special launch price of €39.
The Monte do Gozo park in Santiago de Compostela will host, from 28-30 June the ‘O Son do Camiño’ festival, an unmissable music event that kicks off with names such as The Killers, Lenny Kravitz and Jamiroquai as headliners.
The Galician Culture Secretary, Román Rodríguez, and the head of Turismo de Galicia, Nava Castro, presented this musical event, which will bring together international and Spanish renowned artists, along with the coordinator of the Xacobeo 2021, Cecilia Pereira.
The festival on the Monte do Gozo, and which has been thought of as a preview to the Xacobeo 2021, is part of a wider music programme throughout Galicia, taking music events to the main Galician cities.
As was announced at the presentation, O Son do Camiño will be headed by renowned artists and bands such as The Killers, Lenny Kravitz, Jamiroquai, Martin Garrix, Two Door Cinema Club, Franz Ferdinand and Mando Diao.
With a capacity for 24,000 people every day, the Monte do Gozo, which is currently undergoing work, will have two stages, a food area, market and a camping area.
Román Rodríguez explained that the Xacobeo arises with a new philosophy, that it is not just one year, but that begins “now, in 2018”, stretching over the next few years.
“This great festival, and the different concerts that will be offered in the main cities in Galicia, will make the region a musical and cultural reference, internationally,” stated Román Rodríguez.
Nava Castro showed support for projects like this that “reinforce” the idea that the Xacobeo “is synonym of joining efforts” and highlight the value of “culture and tourism” that have given “25 years of uninterrupted success” to the event.
The macro festival will also feature names like León Benavente, The Gift, C. Tangana, La M.O.D.A., Carlos Sadness, Toundra, The Last Internationale, Talisco, Morgan, Rufus T. Firefly and Plya.
Galician groups will also be represented by Novedades Carminha, Triángulo de Amor Bizarro, Eladio y los Seres Queridos, Arce, Malandrómeda, Bala, Furious Monkey House, True Mountains and Agoraphobia. However, the list is not yet definite and new additions are expected.
Tickets will be on sale as of March 1 on the official festival website and on Ticketea with a special lunch price of €39. As part of the programme, there will be 6 concerts in the main cities to be announced soon.
During the presentation of the festival, those responsible stated that “there would be a noticeable economic impact for Santiago de Compostela, the surrounding area, and in general for Galicia. The festival’s commitment to the Galician economy is added to by the fact that 80% of its needs will be covered by companies from the region.
O Son do Camiño is a UTE (temporary business union) initiative made up by Old Navy Port Producciones S.L. and Esmerarte Industrias Creativas, S.L., sponsored by the Xunta de Galicia (Galician Region Government) with the collaboration of our brand Estrella Galicia.
