Victoria, Fabril and Compos gave a grand close to the XVI Victoria Tournament “Moncho Rivera Memorial Trophy” after four days during which the different categories of the club from Coruña played 12 matches against other teams from Galicia. Compos football team was the winner of the sixteenth edition of the classic tournament which pays tribute to Ramón Rivera Riguera and which raises money for La Cocina Económica.
The CEO of Hijos de Rivera, Ignacio Rivera, gave a cheque for €10,420 to Alberto Martí Villardefrancos, President of LaCocina Económica of A Coruña. In addition, the grandson of the protagonist, Moncho Rivera, handed the trophy to SD. Compostela who won the competition after a win and a draw.
Moncho Rivera, part of the third generation of the Rivera family, was one of the founders of the Victoria club and promoted this Tournament which is sixteen years old, but which had disappeared for almost thirty years. In 2009, the Club wanted to recognise the work carried out by its promoter in supporting grass roots sport, naming the trophy after him, and regaining the essence of the early years, with the support of Hijos de Rivera.
