The Victoria Tournament – Moncho Rivera Memorial Trophy will host its final game on Thursday 11 September at the “Complejo Deportivo de Elviña” football ground. The championship, which pays tribute to Ramón Rivera Riguera, will once again host the classic charity tournament in support of La Cocina Económica during which the different categories of the Coruña club compete against other teams from Galicia.
Moncho Rivera, part of the third generation of the Rivera family, was one of the founders of the Victoria club and promoted this Tournament which is sixteen years old, but which had disappeared for almost thirty years. In 2009, the Club wanted to recognise the work carried out by its promoter in supporting grass roots sport, naming the trophy after him, and regaining the essence of the early years.
The Memorial Trophy will begin with an exhibition match played by the Victoria football schools (5pm). Following that, the round-robin will be held between SD. Compostela – Victoria CF. (6.45pm), RC. Deportivo B – SD. Compostela (7.45pm) and the match between Victoria CF – RC. Deportivo B (8.45pm). At the end of the matches, the CEO of Hijos de Rivera S.A.U., Ignacio Rivera will hand out the prizes to the winners and the Company’s donation to La Cocina Económica.
