The virtual edition of the 5KM Charity race has been a great success, with 649 runners registered and a gross of €40,141 raised, a record for this charity event.
Donations made through “Dorsal 0”, as well as the participation of the Moncho Rivera Memorial, have made an important contribution to the Food Banks.
The virtual edition of the 5KM Charity race has managed to mobilize more resources than ever before thanks to the great work of the volunteer team of Corporación Hijos de Rivera. On this occasion, the charity race has summoned 649 runners and raised a sum that far exceeds €40,000, a record in the history of this event.
Both donations made through the “Dorsal 0” of the race, as well as the participation of the Memorial Moncho Rivera have greatly contributed to the donation to be made to the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL), at a time when support for the those helped by these institutions is more important than ever.
Hijos de Rivera’s Volunteering Team Initiative
The 5KM Charity race is the race driven by the volunteer team of all the companies in Corporación Hijos de Rivera and allocates the total of the money raised to support the activity of the Federación Española de Bancos de Alimentos (FESBAL) (Spanish Federation of Food Banks) that this year has had to carried out virtually. www.5kmsolidarios.es.
The streets of A Coruña gave way to the location chosen by the participants who wanted to face this charity challenge. The runners were able to choose both the route and its difficulty, and even the day and time to do it, as long as it was between November 28 and December 5.
All participants also entered the draw of different lots and products donated by the collaborating companies, such as Gadis, Vegalsa, Cristalería El Reflejo, Marineda and Estrella Galicia 0.0.
Sixth edition with more support than ever before
The 5KM Charity race reached its sixth edition this year as an initiative of the volunteer team made up of the staff of the different companies that make up the Corporación Hijos de Rivera. Each year it has the Food Bank Rías Altas and FESBAL as organizers, and also the collaboration of entities such as Asociación de Empresarios de Agrela, the Consorcio Provincial contra Incendios y Salvamento de A Coruña, GLS and Cabreiroá.
In addition, on this occasion he has added the support of the Moncho Rivera Memorial, the charity championship organized by Victoria CF that this year would have reached its twenty-second edition and which could not be held in the current circumstances. Even so, its supporters have wanted to keep alive the sporting and charity spirit of this tournament through its collaboration with the 5KM Charity race, thus maintaining its commitment to the groups that need it most.
