The start-ups Trucksters, Talentoo, Flexsas, Estrella-Day, Data Monitoring and Barley have been chosen to take a great business leap with The Hopside by side with our company , who will support these teams of young entrepreneurs in their digital projects.
Trucksters, Talentoo, Flexsas, Estrella-Day, Data Monitoring and Barley are the six start-ups that have been chosen for the The HopAwards organised by Estrella Galicia to take their great business leap through the company’s collaborative entrepreneurial programme. The Hopis an initiative that is included in our Digital Transformation Plan that has attracted the interest of a number of young entrepreneurs from Spain, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and other countries in Europe.
These technology based projects have been those chosen to take part in the development and acceleration phase within our own entrepreneurial ecosystem:
Trucksters
The technology of this start-up enables transport companies to have access to a network of drivers who can take over from each other and drive a single truck on mid and long distance journeys. The solution is to help maximise the transportation of goods by road and reach new markets in the most efficient and economical way.
Talentoo
A personnel selection platform with a B2B model that connects contracting companies with recruiters simply and with free registration. The system improves the costly employment processes, acting as a sole intermediary and supplier. The user chooses the fee they wish to pay and pays only if the candidate is taken on.
Flexsas
It’s an online marketplace for on-demand storage solutions. It connects distributors and other sector agents with operators in warehouses. The initiative has hundreds of partners in Brazil, from where the distribution to the different retail channels is managed with the aim of reducing costs and increasing sales in the more remote areas.
Estrella-Day
Its technology aims to provide cold beer to clients within an hour, thanks to a shift towards same day delivery. The aim is to optimise real time operations and obtain new clients in its conversion funnel by creating new business lines and boosting the existing ones.
Data Monitoring
The solution involves designing, manufacturing and programming a low cost monitoring device with IoT adapted to the “Cerveza de bodega” beer barrels. It also includes a mobile app from where the different parameters used to study the state and consumption of the product, as well as logistics for restocking, can be controlled.
Barley
Management and intelligence platform aimed at bars, distributors and beer producers. Though IoT flowmeters the big data which is necessary to create analytical solutions, optimise decision making, and offer better service and increase sales is generated.
The Hop: the programme that backs innovative start-ups
We will, therefore, incorporate the different digital projects and initiatives related to big data, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things to our processes and business activity. The collaborating start-ups will receive training, mentoring, and the necessary backing to develop and accelerate from an open creation environment.
During the event, Ignacio Rivera, CEO of Hijos de Rivera, pointed out the importance of collaborative entrepreneurship and digital innovation for Estrella Galicia: “Today is not a goal, but the start to an exciting path, the path to engage in something new and take the leap. I always speak about four key ingredients to be able to do so, and that all share in the DNA of Estrella Galicia: be clear about what one wants to be, leave one’s comfort zone, don’t be afraid to make mistakes, and dream because dreaming is free and profitable. At Estrella Galicia we are going to learn with you, become involved, and accompany you on this dream.”
18 finalists from over 130 registered
The objective with The Hopgoes through identifying talent, developing technological entrepreneurship, and strengthening collaboration between Estrella Galicia and start-upsand young entrepreneurs. From the 31 May, when the programme was presented, the Community of “Hoppers” has registered over 130 proposals, of which only 18 of the projects were pre-selected.
Throughout the morning of the prize-giving day, the finalists had the opportunity to defend their solutions in front of the jury, whose final decision was announced in the afternoon. Hence the start-ups that were finally selected by The Hop could add value to the technological solutions to the different strategic areas of the Estrella Galicia value chain, such as Commercialistaion, Production and Quality, Management, Logistics and Supplies, and Procurement, and Marketing, among others.
“The Hop is a collaborative entrepreneurship programme that is looking for what Estrella Galicia can add to the entrepreneurial community and transmit the dream of making a start-up grow from our experience. This is a project searching for open creation talent, and new business models and ways of working,” said Juan José Delgado, Chief Digital Officer of the company and one of those responsible for The Hop.
The jury of the first edition of The Hop Awards was made up of executives atHijos de Rivera, the company that owns Estrella Galicia, as well as external professional experts. At the award ceremony, held on 2 October in Santiago de Compostela, institutional and business representatives were also present.
Also present at the event was the president of the Galician regional government, the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who highlighted at the The Hopaward ceremony “Galicians are innovators, living in this corner of Europe is not easy, and we have a huge interest in talent and entrepreneurial initiatives. I can only say to the winners that they are fortunate to be able to work alongside a company like Estrella Galicia and I also consider that the company is very fortunate to be able to work with such great talent.”
The Hop Experience has begun
Each of the winning teams will receive 10,000 euros in cash, after going through the The Hop Experience, a corporate and cultural immersion period during which they will learn in A Coruña how to make their projects grow and develop their goals as start-ups, just like our company did 112 years ago. The process will then be completed with training courses in Madrid, within the Espazo The Hop (The Hop Space), from which the projects will enter an acceleration phase, always backed by expert professionals.
