The aspirants to the Best Beer Puller in the Balearic Islands can put their names down to participate in the Estrella Galicia Beer Pulling Championship, a regional phase which will allow the winner to take part in the national championship to be held in Madrid in April.
The contest will be held on Wednesday 1 April, from 5pm at the Casino de Mallorca within the frame of the Feria del Barman y el Barista de Mallorca (The Mallorca Barman and Barista Fair)
Participation is open to all those professionals who, representing their respective establishments or companies, are from any part of the region. They can sign up for free on the Estrella Galicia webpage before Friday 27 March at 12.00pm (midday). From all those who sign up, 30 participants will compete, representing the different areas of the region.
The jury, which will be made up of experts from the beer, catering and restaurant sectors, will have to work hard to evaluate the quality and excellence of the aspirants’ service, as well as their knowledge about beer. The jury will analyse each exercise and award points, according to previously defined parameters, for style, technique and the level of perfection when pulling a beer, and its final presentation.
The five finalists will win their weight in beer, and a cash prize of €300 for the winner and €200 for the runner-up. There will also be three runner-up prizes of €100. All the finalists will be given a certificate of participation, while the winner and runner-up will go directly through to the National Championship, with paid travel and accommodation costs.
Estrella Galicia rewards professionalism and quality when serving beer.
After the success of the first edition, Estrella Galicia has decided to once again test the skills and quality of service of catering professionals throughout Spain with the aim of rewarding the talent and effort of barmen when serving the product at its optimum point for the consumer to enjoy.
The grand final will be held in Madrid, within the XXIX Salón de Gourmets, Feria Internacional de Alimentación y Bebidas de Calidad, (International Fine Food and Drink Fair) to be held from 13 to 16 April 2015, with representatives from all the Spanish regions. In the previous edition, the skill of the participants and the excitement of the public turned the contest into one of the focal pints of the international Salón.
In addition, on this occasion, Estrella Galicia is holding qualifying regional phases in some regions. Such is the case of Andalusia (which took place on 28 September), the Basque Country (1 December), Castilla y León (2 March), Galicia (16 March), Balearic Islands (to be held on 1 April) and Madrid (on 13 April), where the best representatives of each region emerge to compete in the grand final.
The aim of this championship is to promote beer culture, the values of beer as a product of excellence within the food and beverage industry, and acknowledge the work carried out by bartenders as a fundamental link in the distribution chain of Estrella Galicia products. Professionalism in catering establishments is fundamental to offer end consumers the full range of possibilities a premium beer such as Estrella Galicia has to offer.
