This morning in A Coruña we presented the seventh edition of the 1906 Jazz Season, a programme that has grown to become an unmissable date for lovers of this music genre. In the words of Juan Paz, 1906 Brand Manager, “to reach the seventh edition of the programme is a dream but it’s also a great responsibility towards the public that has supported us en masse all these years.  He pointed out that “every year we plan a more ambitious project, in an attempt to surpass the public’s expectations with quality music proposals and widening the geographic scope where the 1906 Jazz Season can be enjoyed”.

Our 1906 beer hosts three very intense months for us with a total of 50 concerts of the best jazz in some of the best jazz clubs in Spain.  The 1906 Jazz Season will reach 12 cities and 16 venues with such quality artists as Brad MelhdauKenny GarrettAvishai Cohen and Atomic, along with many others.

Temples of Jazz

The 1906 Jazz Season has always been characterised for setting jazz in its natural environment, jazz clubs, where the small great moments that the brand boasts can be fully enjoyed.  In this sense, in Galicia we will be able to enjoy concerts from this Season in A Coruña (Jazz Filloa), Santiago (Dado Dada), Vigo (Xancarajazz), Lugo (Clavicémbalo), Ourense (Café Latino) and Ferrol (Bla Bla Café).

The music programme will also reach Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao and Murcia, in addition to Oviedo which is a new addition to the Season. Also, the concerts will include venues like the Teatro Principal (Santiago de Compostela) and Teatro Lara (Madrid).

Opening and Closing

The 1906 Jazz Season will begin in a big way on March 16 with the Brad Mehldau Trio concert in the Teatro Principal (Santiago) and the finale will be a Galician Jazz Marathon on the 19/06 in Plaza de la Quintana (Santiago de Compostela). On this day, there will be 12 hours of live music in the street in order to, openly and with no barriers, share with pedestrians the music proposals of twelve Galician jazz bands.  In Madrid, Diego Amador and Llibert Fortuny will close the Season with their music in the street.

Novelties

In this seventh edition, the programme opens up to new similar musical styles with the help of 1906 Red Vintage and Freedonia giving a nod to soul music on a tour that will visit Santiago, Vigo and Murcia.
