The collaborative training initiative aimed at catering students and professionals, the Hijos de Rivera Co-cooking Programme, began on the 18th of July at the PortAmerica festival in Vigo, with the participation of the Michelin-starred chefs Xose Cannas and Javier Olleros, who shared their knowledge with four students from the Carlos Oroza catering college in Pontevedra.
The event began at 7pm and finished at 11pm. During this time, dozens of tapas, which had been specially created for the occasion and which could be enjoyed with Estrella Galicia beer and Maeloc Cider, were served.
Side by side with the chefs, the students enjoyed a day of learning made even more enjoyable by live music from Amaro Ferreiro, Fon Román, Editors and the Portuguese group The Gift, who opened the second edition of the festival, which has a higher number of festival goers each year and is sponsored by Estrella Galicia.
The Co-cooking programme on the 19th counts on the Michelin-starred chefs Pepe Solla and Yayo Daporta who will surprise us with their culinary proposal in PortAmerica, and who will share their knowledge with students from the Manuel Antonio catering college (Vigo). On Saturday it is Beatriz Sotelo and Alberto Gonzalez’s turn with the Lamas de Abade catering college (Santiago).
