Sensacional is a catalyst for all the good things that guitar pop has given us these last few decades. From the most classic British aspect, to the strength of the American nineties, but always with their own influence with wonderful lyrics. Their debut album, “Relatos e invenciones de hoy”, brings together 12 small anthems.
Manos de Topo

Where: Sala El Sol, Madrid. SON Estrella Galicia

Manos de Topo are still singing about love and human relationships, but now in a self-edited format. A short-cut and a detour, another jump into the unknown. They’ve decided to bring out ten songs that talk about new paths, about creating small paths that run alongside the official “sentimental” routes.

Cold Specks
When: Wednesday 11 February, 10pm
Where: Teatro del Arte, Madrid. SON Estrella Galicia
Tickets: Advance €12 / At the door € 15

Cold Specks defines her music as doom soul. Her personal mark is visible, a mix that contains traces of the traditional and a current vibe that brings to mind TV On The Radio, Santigold or Macy Gray, even a jet and gothic St. Vincent. Her second album, Neuroplasticity, drips in post-rock and no wave blood.
Tulsa presents La calma chicha
When: Thursday 12 February, 10pm
Where: Sala El Sol, Madrid. SON Estrella Galicia
Tickets: Advance €12 / At the door €15
Ticket Sales: Ticketea
Tulsa kick off their presentation tour of “La calma chicha” with SON Estrella Galicia. Their much-awaited third album is a stylistic and creative step forward of the already consolidated career of Miren Iza. “En tu corazón solo hay sitio en los suburbios”, the first track from the new LP is a good example of the subtle change of register.

The frontman and writer of Everything But The Girl will perform at the Teatro Lara accompanied by Bernard Butler, Suede guitarist, and Martin Ditcham, drummer and also ex-member of Everything But The Girl. After having taken El Cariño down enough of a path for it to be considered as one of the most important albums of 2014, and almost a year since a sell-out concert at the Teatro del Arte in Madrid (also within the SON Estrella Galicia season), Modelo de Respuesta Polar return to the Spanish capital after having toured almost all over Spain.
Jolie Holland
When: Monday 23 February, 10pm
Where: Sala El Sol, Madrid. SON Estrella Galicia
Tickets: For a limited period €12 / Advance €15 / At the door € 18
Ticket Sales: Ticketea
It could be said that Jolie Holland is what Joe Henry would have been if he had been born a woman, sixteen years later, and in Texas, instead of in North Carolina, although they share a taste for changing landscapes. Also, it’s interesting to add that Holland shows a growing preference for the electric as opposed to acoustic guitar and that she was a part of Be Good Tanyas. Holland will present tracks form her latest album Wine Dark Sea (2014).
Walter Salas-Humara
When: Tuesday 24 February, 10pm
Where: Teatro del Arte, Madrid. SON Estrella Galicia
Tickets: Advance €10 / At the door € 15
Ticket Sales: Ticketea
He began to receive recognition in the 80s, when fronting The Silos. Fourteen studio albums are the fruit of the band until now, with such classics as “Cuba” (1987) and later ones such as “Heater” (1998). Also, Walter Salas-Humara has published Lagartija (1988), Radar (1995) and Curve and Shake (2014) on his own, and he hasn’t stopped collaborating on other recordings and soundtracks.
