745 people participated in the charity race “5 KM Solidarios de Arteixo” held on Sunday 8 November organised by the Rias Altas Food Bank, our Company’s volunteer team and volunteers from the Consorcio de Bomberos (Firefighters Consortium). The race exceeded all expectations, managing to raise a total of 4,245 euros and 251 kg of food.
On Sunday morning, the industrial estate of Arteixo, in A Coruña, was witness to a party for a good cause, with balloons for the children, and a bar for drinks.
Good weather allowed all those running the 5 km race to do so pleasantly. Among the participants were sports people, professionals and amateurs, and families. For an entrance fee of 5 euros per participant, all those who took part were given an official race T-shirt and a bag of fruit, a newspaper and other gifts from numerous collaborators. They all enjoyed an alcohol-free beer or a mineral water to rehydrate after doing exercise.
The collaboration of our Company’s Volunteering Team was a key element for this activity, as they took part in management and coordination tasks (organising entries, logistics, and setting everything up) or participating in the search for collaborators, and communication acts. Without them these types of charity events would not be possible.
