Our Maeloc ciders have just received important international backing in one of the most influential contests in the sector. The International Cider Challenge 2014 has awarded the top Trophy for Flavour to Sidra Natural Maeloc (Maeloc Natural Cider) and the Gold Medal in the same category to Sidra Extra Maeloc (Maeloc Extra Cider).
Cider technicians, drinks critics, producers and representatives of the main food chains in the UK make up the panel of this competition held in the UK to which 150 ciders from around the world have been entered this year, most from Europe but also fromcountries like Canada or Cambodia. After a blind tasting, the jury commented on the fact that each edition of the competition offered higher quality products, making it more difficult for ciders to stand out within the sector.
Besides for its flavour, Maeloc has also been the protagonist in the Design and Packaging category which recognises the work carried out by the brands to present their products in attractive and original packaging. Sidra Extra Maeloc (Maeloc Extra Cider), Sidra Natural Maeloc (Maeloc Natural Cider) and Sidra Maeloc Pera (Maeloc Pear Cider) were awarded Bronze medals in this category for “taking cider into new territories and expanding what we expect form cider” via its packaging.
Our Maeloc ciders have always stood out for their innovative presentations and flavours, as well asplacing emphasis on its origin, as a cider wholly produced with Galician apples, via the slogan “Cosecha de Galicia” (“Galician Harvest”), transmitting the notion to the markets of its commitment to quality Galician products. In this sense, Maeloc is leader in the Spanish flavoured ciders (pear, blackberry and strawberry) sector in addition to its other consolidated varieties such as Sidra Natural, Sidra Extra, Seca (Dry), or Sidra Dulce (Sweet). Its products are exported to countries such as USA, Japan, UK, Germany, Singapore, France and the Philippines.
