The American shooting guard Matt Thomas has received, for the third time this season, the Estrella Galicia Player of the Month, with 72.2% of the votes cast on the club’s social networks.
The Estrella Galicia Player of the Month award for February was given to the American shooting guard, Matt Thomas from Monbus Obradoiro, for the third time this season, at La Tita.
The team’s fans, through a vote on the club’s social networks, took the decision about who should get the award.
Of all the votes cast on Twitter and Facebook, 72.2% were for Matt Thomas, while 22.2% went to Artem Pustovyi and the remaining 5.6% to Nemanja Radovic.
After receiving his prize, the player said, “this is the third time I have been given this prize and I am so grateful. Without my team-mates and coaches, who create advantageous situations, I wouldn’t have individual success.”
Monbus Obradoiro only played four matches in February because of the “Copa del Rey” break and the FIBA Windows, and the player explained “we lost the first on the Tecnyconta Zaragoza court, but we beat UCAM Murcia at the Sar with the last play. I remember that Moncho decided to pass me the ball right at the very end to score and win. With regards to that match, I will never forget the celebration with my team-mates after taking the last shot that gave us the win.”
Regarding the match this Sunday at 6pm, the player has commented that it is against “FC Barcelona Lassa. We mustn’t think about the first match. We have to concentrate on playing as we know, go out there to compete, and offer a strong defence to fight to win.”
