Marcos Pin and his big band of Galician musicians’s tour kicks off in the VI 1906 Jazz Season. The “Factor E Reset” band leader and guitarist will play on the stages of Galician cities such as Ourense and Santiago, and will also be performing in Madrid and Barcelona as part of the 1906 Reserva Especial concert line up, to share the 1906 “small great moments” with audiences in these cities.
The line-up organised by the premium beer 1906 Reserva Especial continues with the performance of Marcos Pin “Factor E Reset” who will play on Wednesday, 29th May in the Café Latino (Ourense) offering his first concert in this 1906 Jazz Season. On Thursday he will be at the Café Berlin (Madrid), while on Friday he plays in Barcelona (Sala Jamboree). In all these performances Pin will be accompanied by the great group of musicians that make up his band: Javier Pereiro (trumpet and flugelhorn), José Luis Miranda (trombone and euphonium), Fernando Sánchez (alto saxophone), Xosé Lois Miguelez (tenor saxophone), Toño Otero (tenor and baritone saxophone), Ton Risco (vibes), Manolo Gutiérrez (piano), Juansy Santomé (double bass) and Max Gómez (drums).
These won’t be the only performances by “Factor E Reset” in the VI 1906 Jazz Season, as the band will take centre stage at the celebration of “Dia de la Musica” (“Music Day”) organised by the Galician beer brand, on the 19th of June (19/06) every year. On this special day, outstanding musicians become street musicians for a day, and perform on the street so that the general public can join in the celebrations. Marcos Pin will be in charge of providing the rhythm for this initiative in Santiago de Compostela, while in Madrid, simultaneously, Jorge Pardo will perform for those visiting the Mercado de San Anton.
MARCOS PIN “FACTOR E RESET”
Javier Pereiro-trumpet and flugelhorn, José Luis Miranda-trombone and euphonium, Fernando Sánchez-alto saxophone, Xosé Lois Miguelez-tenor saxophone, Toño Otero-tenor and baritone saxophone, Ton Risco-vibes, Manolo Gutiérrez-piano, Juansy Santomé- double bass and Max Gómez-drums.
In times of uncertainty, like those we are going through now, there are very few musicians who compose for large formations, as their work on the manuscript paper often ends up gathering dust. For the 1906 Season, it’s a real honour to be able to have on stage the tentet put together by the outstanding guitarist Marcos Pin. Barbanza (Freecode 2012) is the title of a creation developed with patience, dedication and the highest level of inspiration when composing. Within it the sounds, the tradition and the arrangements of the big bands converge with the energy of the smaller ensembles and are arranged according to the repertoire. Of course, great ideas are never brought to life without great performers, so the credit due to Pin is not only in his skills of improvisation but also in the criteria used when selecting his companions, all of whom are outstanding performers on the Galician jazz scene. Something which a few years ago would have been unimaginable is in their hands at the moment. Long live big bands!!
