At the end of last year we presented our strategic plan for 2013-2015, in which we set out new objectives, with the confidence and ambition that our experience and the work we have carried out until now provide us. One of the most important objectives highlighted in our plan was to become a distributor on a national scale. Since then we have worked unceasingly, and this has yielded benefits.
In the last few days, our company has taken an important step forward in distribution through deals reached with the Erdinger and Duvel Moortgat breweries to commercialise their products throughout Spain. These deals allow us to offer a better service to our clients by widening our product portfolio to include leading imported beer brands.
Erdinger is a family-run German brewery founded in 1886. Located in Erding, outside Munich, in the heart of Bavaria, it produces 180 million litres of wheat beer annually, which it exports to over 80 countries, making it a leader for this variety of beer. Hijos de Rivera will distribute the majority of the varieties of the Erdinger brand like its wheat beer Erdinger Weissbier, Erdinger Dunkel (dark beer), Erdinger Pikantus (dark bock beer), and Erdinger Alkoholfrei.
Duvel Moortgat is a Belgian brewery founded in 1871 and remains a family-run company currently under the control of the fourth generation of the Moortgat family. It’s the third largest Belgian brewery, producing 80 million litres of beer a year in its 6 breweries located in Belgium, the United States and the Czech Republic.
Its strategy in the last decades has centered on the acquisition of reference beers from different markets allowing it to offer a wide range of brands and beers. Its best-known beer is Duvel, a super premium ale. Besides Duvel, it also has beers such as Maredsous abbey beer, Liefmans Fruit Beer, De Koninck ales, Achouffe beers, or the wheat beer Vedett.
These deals constitute an important first step in the future strategy of our company which will be completed in the following months with new deals and new brands which place us on the road to becoming a reference as nationwide distributors.
