300 caterers, 45,000 tapas, over 15,000 attendees and plenty of Estrella Galicia beer in order to break the Guinness Record for the longest Tapas Bar in the world, in Seville, at almost a kilometre in length.

Estrella Galicia served at the longest Tapas Bar in the world

MAKRO, in collaboration with Estrella Galicia, Seville Council, the Seville Tourism Consortium, the Seville Asociación de Hostelería, and the Asociación de Cocineros y Reposterosde España(FACYRE), among others, have achieved the Guinness Record for the longest Tapas Bar in world in Seville- almost a kilometre long- to commemorate the Día de la Hostelería(Hospitality Day).

To achieve this, 300 Sevillian caterers have elaborated more than 45,000 tapas, forming a more than 600 meters bar between San Telmo Bridge, the Torre del Oro and the Triana Bridge, where our Estrella Galicia and Fontarel products were served. During the event, each caterer offered a tasting menu of three tapas, with a total of 50 of each. Afterwards, as acknowledgement of their participation in the event, each participant received a Guinness certificate.

Over 20,000 offers to help celebrate Día de la Hostelería (Hospitality Day)

The Guinness Record for the longest Tapas Bar in the world is an event within the Día de la Hostelería, which will celebrate its third edition on 9 October, and already has 20,000 bars and restaurants taking part.

The Día de la Hosteleríais the greatest tribute to one of the economic engines in Spain, where there are over 300,000 catering establishments (employing over 1.6 million people), equating to around 7% of GDP.

The initiative is part of an international project by METRO AG, parent company of MAKRO, and is held simultaneously in 25 countries.
