Mimosa, Marquesa, Madalena, Marela, Morena…are the Queens of Cortes de Muar (Moo Courts), the traditional cheese-makers from Silleda (Pontevedra) which will be the protagonist this week at the Mercado de la Cosecha (Harvest Market) pop up store. A temporary store concept remaining open only until the beginning of October, which will serve to spread and promote exemplary initiatives stemming from the countryside, transmitting their philosophy and most authentic flavour to the citizens.
Las Cortes de Muar (The Moo Courts) are those governed by its cows Marela, Morena, Marquesa and Mimosa, among others. In these royal courts, they moo about their stuff when they are collected at dusk after a quiet day grazing in the fresh, green pastures. This is how this cheese-making family presents those responsible for their products: their cows. It’s from them that the milk is taken to make limited production ecologic cheeses under the name of Cortes de Muar. The cows are also the protagonists of the original and fun packaging for the products produced by this modern cheese-maker that has successfully blended tradition and modernity.
Cortes de Muar this week opens the Mercado de la Cosecha (Harvest Market) shop. The pop up store is located in Calle Riego de Agua (number 38) in A Coruña and all those interested can visit during the next three months and have a first-hand experience of some of the most innovative initiatives from the countryside.
Every week will feature a different protagonist, an exemplary experience, an innovative project, workshops and activities open to the public, tastings of Galician products….. Every week there will be surprises for all, so that by the end of the summer both Coruña citizens and visitors will have fallen under the spell of the possibilities that our countryside offers.
This week among Cortes de Muar’s proposal there will be a number of tastings of its products (Tuppercheese), an activity during which one can learn to create cheese platters, and many more surprises. The programme kicks off tomorrow, Tuesday, with the cutting and tasting of the cheese awarded a prize at the World Cheese Awards, starting at 12.30pm.

The Mercado de la Cosecha is a social commitment initiative shared by Hijos de Rivera, RandGadis. Its main objective is to promote the socioeconomic development of Galicia and the sustainability of its rural areas. In order to do so, it carries out a number of different initiatives to spread and promote these ideas, such as the Parladoiros, of which a second edition has already been held, or the just-opened pop-up store which we intend to take to other cities in the short-term.
