The driver Carlos Sainz takes part in an Estrella Galicia 0,0 event at Silverstone
“Renault has one of the most solid long-term projects within Formula 1 and I am extremely proud to be part of this team”: Carlos Sainz summed up the season and his expectations at an event organised by his sponsor Estrella Galicia 0,0 before his race at Silverstone.
With regards to the season, the driver from Madrid has stated, “the aim is to continue to fighting to be in the top ten, and win points in all the races.”
The driver Carlos Sainz participated in an Estrella Galicia 0,0 event at Silverstone. At the event, the first of our brand in the British market alongside Renault Sport Formula 1 Team, Sainz answered some of the questions regarding his future and his expectations, while working at the hobs of one of our ambassadors in this market, the renown chef Omar Allibhoy, giving us one of the most curious images of the day in the paddock.
The driver understands the expectation that exist regarding his future, but points out that “Daniel Ricciardo’s decision will obviously determine many things but, until it is not 100% definite, it makes no sense to make any comments about rumours. I am focused on my work, improving the car, and being fast on the track. The rest can be dealt with when the time comes.”
His opinion about the Renault project is very positive: “having seen how many people are being taken on, the changes made in the factory, the improvements in the engine and the car in just a few years, I think I can safely say that Renault has one of the most solid long term projects in Formula 1 and, since last year, they have all my commitment and effort. Renault wants to get back to the top in the mid-term, and I am really proud to be part of this project.”
Taking advantage of this meeting with the press at his sponsor’s, Estrella Galicia 0,0, event, Sainz wanted to make clear that he wants to concentrate on the season, and has made it his objective to “continue fighting to be in the top ten, and trying to win points in all the races.” As a team, “I think we can be happy with fourth position in the car manufacturer’s world championship, but we mustn’t let our guard down.”
The Renault driver highlighted the improvements made after 9 Grand Prixs: “I think that we still have a lot of work ahead to try to get the car to how I want it, and get the ideal set up for each type of circuit. We have been focusing on these two aspects since the start of the year, and we have to continue to do so.”
Sainz also stated that Silverstone is one of his favourite tracks because he has been competing there since he was 15.
