On Saturday, Cabreiroá and Estrella Galicia 0,0 helped to rehydrate the triathletes who participated in HERCULES XTRM, the first half triathlon held in A Coruña.
For this challenge, the first in Galicia to be held in an urban area, the participants had to swim 1.9 km, cycle 90 km and run 21.1 km. At all the refreshment stations, Cabreiroá was available in order to guarantee the hydration of the participants, fundamental to complete any of the three stages in this grueling challenge.
Once at the finish line, and when the HERCULES XTRM had finished, the athletes could rehydrate themselves with our water, Cabreiroá, and also our Estrella Galicia 0,0 beer. Not only water but also beer is a perfect choice for rehydration after any kind of sporting activity, as reflected in the report by the CICS, Centro de Información de Cerveza y Salud (Beer and Health Information Centre), called “Idoneidad de la cerveza en la recuperación del metabolismo de los deportistas” (Suitability of beer in the recovery of sportspeople’s metabolism) by specialists in medicine and nutrition.
According to this study, beer contains 95% water, minerals, carbohydrates, vitamins, antioxidants and soluble fibre, beneficial components for general health and especially to recover the losses brought about through exercising. Its refreshing effect and its thirst-quenching properties make it an ideal drink with which to rehydrate oneself and regain energy after sport, and, not only that, it also contains a low number of calories. A glass of beer only has 90 calories, and non-alcohol beer, just under 17 calories per 100ml.
