John Barret and his punk band, Bass Drum of Death, will be performing in SON Estrella Galicia on the 4th of June in El Sol (Madrid), and presenting their latest release “Innovative Leisure”.
John plays the guitar and sings and Colin plays the drums. In 2011, they edited their first record, “GB City” (Fat Possum). John wrote and recorded the whole record on his own, in his room, with only a drumset, a guitar, a usb microphone and a computer. And, of course, heaps of talent!
It’s been just over a year since they released their debut album. Pure garage rock, plenty of dirt and politically incorrect lyrics in eleven tracks, each as good as the other. “Innovative Leisure” is the follow up to their 2011 debut, “GB City”, and it demonstrates the solid evolution of their lo-fi pop punk sound. This is quite clear from their first track, “Shattered me”, a track full of energy, a little more festive than their previous ones, and full of riffs that will give you goosebumps.
