SON Estrella Galicia returns stronger than ever, full of energy after a hot summer and with a huge number of dates to mark on your calendars this autumn.
September starts with the much-awaited Crystal Fighters tour, the kings of electronic folk, with three dates in Madrid (two of them already sold out), one in Santiago de Compostela (also sold out) and one in Vigo presenting their new album “Cave Rave“.
On September 19th SON Estrella Galicia’s new “secret”, the Teatro del Arte in Lavapies (Madrid), will see Prin La Lá perform. On the 2nd October, we will be able to see an intimate Bigott, and on the 5th, Algora will present “Verbena”. In November (14th) Jigsaw will be there, the much-awaited Sam Amidon on the 7th, and Nothing Places on the 27th.
The costumbrismo pop of Sr Chinarro, will fill the Teatro Lara, as will the British elegance of Lloyd Cole, the excellent new album by The Pastels, the new songs about love and heartache from Josh Rouse, the delicacy of Jay Jay Johanson or Fira Fem, the unclassifiable show from Ginferno, and of course, Anna Calvi, one of the most anticipated shows of the year.
Sol will host Gentle Music Men, Retribution Gospel Choir led by Low’s frontman, the garage of Mujeres and Novedades Carminha, Rufus T Firefly, the psychedelia of Acid Mothers Temple and The Space Paranoid, the glam of Deathfix (ex Fugazi), the new album by The Wave Pictures or the Two Door Cinema Club-style pop of The 1975.
New features this year include the 981Heritage SON Estrella Galicia becoming multi-venue in Madrid during the months of November and December allowing us to enjoy names like Youth Lagoon, Depforth Goth, Za!, Austra, Baths, Iceage or Mount Kimbie. The American Autumn unfolds and adds Madrid to its first venue, Ourense. We’ll see The Posies, Spain, Bry Webb, Willard Grant Conspiracy, The New Mendicants (Norman Blake & Joe Pernice) or The Dodos. A new edition of Monkey Week is also on its way with Josephine Foster, Guadalupe Plata or The Cubical, “Voces Femeninas” and the SON Estrella Galicia “Viva la Canción”.
Outside the capital, SON EG also has a lot to offer…Valladolid, Coruña, Vigo, Ferrol or Lugo will also enjoy shows from Christina Rosenvinge, Niño y Pistola, Mujeres with Novedades Carminha, The Wave Pictures and many more to be confirmed.
