The 2020 edition of the cultural programme 12 Miradas, curated by Carlos Quintáns and promoted by Laboratorio Creativo Vilaseco in collaboration with Corporación Hijos de Rivera, begins.

On February 13, under the title “Architecture and design as a tool of the transformation of the city”, Javier Peña-Ibáñez will offer his particular twelve gazes as an architect, designer, researcher and curator, thus beginning an exhibition that will last until March 31.

The 12 Miradas programme also includes a residence in the previous days, in which Peña-Ibáñez will explore the Ribeira Sacra to work on the rural environment, in a proposal of “socio-cultural meeting on the territory” that will shape the workshop that he will deliver next spring in Ribeira Sacra.

During the residency, through immersion and direct contact with the inhabitants of the area, Peña-Ibáñez will re-think and reflect on the environment, analysing the possibilities of intervention of the environment through transformative artistic activities.

12 Miradas

12 Miradas is a cultural action programme curated by Carlos Quintáns and promoted by Laboratorio Creativo Vilaseco in collaboration with Corporación Hijos de Rivera. Specialists and stakeholders explore 12 combinations of images through talks, guided by the story of the same protagonist, and samples —”working benches” on which small “visual stories” are arranged that invite the viewer to exercise their own gaze.

The programme includes talks, residencies, exhibitions and scholarships around the artistic practices of the guests, who are invited to reflect on the relationship of the context and the creative process, emphasising the values of respect and coexistence with the environment and the people who inhabit it. Cultural programming becomes a transformative tool for a more respectful and sustainable society.
