WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A B CORP?

“BEING A B CORP MEANS STRIVING TO BE THE BEST COMPANY NOT JUST IN THE WORLD, BUT FOR THE WORLD.”

Over the recent years, the global economy has seen exponential growth, often without fully considering its impact on society. In response, some companies have acknowledged their power and responsibility, choosing to work towards reducing inequality, preserving the environment, strengthening communities, and creating high-quality jobs.

Against this backdrop, the B Corp movement was founded in 2006. Today, it comprises over 8,000 companies, including Hijos de Rivera, that are not satisfied with the status quo and seek to transform the system to foster a fairer, more inclusive, and regenerative economy.

To join the B Community, companies must undergo a comprehensive and rigorous impact assessment process covering five key areas: environment, customers, community, workers, and governance. We have surpassed this milestone thanks to our non-conformist spirit and our commitment to positive impact.

However, B Corp Certification is more than just a seal of approval. It represents an identity, a way of doing business, and a daily work ethic; in essence, it’s a way of being and existing in the world.

True to our artisan essence, at Hijos de Rivera, we have spent 118 years relentlessly striving to improve every day. Thinking about how to take care of our product, but also about how to care for our people. And our place of origin. And the planet we inhabit.
We are non-conformists. And we have been since 1906. Therefore, joining the B Corp community is merely another step forward, a reason to intensify our efforts and continue working to create the world we believe in through our imperfect ambition and the decisions we make every day.

“After passing the world’s toughest impact assessment, we joined B Corp, a movement of non-conformist companies like ours that strive to build a better, more sustainable, and fairer system. This milestone could only be achieved through the effort of every single person who is part of Hijos de Rivera”. Ignacio Rivera
